screen problems
« on: January 02, 2010, 12:25:07 AM »

I have a laptop.

LCD 17"
When I plugin and charge the screen gets brighter.
But now when I put it in it doesn't get brighter and stays the same as if it was unplugged.
It is charging but it not making the screen go brighter any ideaS?

Check brightness/power settings in control panel. There should be two options for how the laptop should behave when plugged in, and when running on battery.

Either software or hardware.

Let's check the hardware portion. On the majority of laptops there is a function command to increase and decrease the LCD Brightness level. Try holding the function key (usually on the bottom left or bottom right hand side of the keyboard) and looking at your F1- F12 key's. One or two of the key's should be marked with Star icon with an arrow pointing up or down. If the screen get's lighter or dimmer then we know it's not the hardware.

On the software portion it all depends on your Display Adapter and LCD Manufacturer for the laptop. There should be a utility in your control panel that determines your power settings. If there isn't a proprietary application per the drivers installed for the display adapter, try the Windows power utility. What you are going to be looking for is a field for "When charging" or "While plugged in".

I have it where my computer runs on high performance. Also this laptop doesn't have a LCD adjuster. Also I don't have that feature to brighten or de brighten. It will go unlit when Un plugged and lit up when plugged.

I also check drivers if there up to date.

Could this be it?

You are in color management, you need to be looking for Power Options. Change the view in control panel from Category to Classic. Should help you find it a bit easier.

"Change Plan Settings" across from "High Performance" and start looking for you display settings in there.
