I heard samsung seems to be the best brand on lcd hdtvs but also a little pricey. I found a 42 inch philips for less than $800 with 1080p, 29,000 to 1 contrast whatever that means, and hd tuner with hdmi inputs. To me that sounds like a good ass deal but i found people say that philips sucks and is good both ways. Just wondering if anyone has an hdtv or has some good suggestions?
I have a Samsung HD LCD the picture quality is amazing, real nice piece of kit both asthetically and picture quality.
Thats when you eventually tune the thing in. I wouldn't reccomend it to a technophobe. The picture options are endless its like using photoshop: Mode, Backlight, contrast, brightness, color, tint, colortone, size, digital nr, dnle, hdmi black level, movie plus, black adjust, dynamic contrast, gamma, color space, white balance, flesh tone, edge enhancement to name a few. The menus are really easy to navigate though so it just takes a bit of playing around with. Also I don't think Phillips are bad. I have a Phillips DVD player and I've never had any problems with it. It reads the most scratched up cd and never overheats. I presume their tv's match the same quality.
