The most recent album was disappointing, and I'm predicting that's all the Modest Mouse that you've heard.  Otherwise you wouldn't be laughing.  A lot of artists' music goes downhill once they go to rehab or otherwise quit drugs.  Quitting drugs can really hurt a man's art.

You picked some good songs of theirs.  Silver Jews - Send in the Clouds for a more Rock 'n' Roll tune of theirs.  My band covers New Orleans by them.  Try Stop the Show by Built to Spill... there's a lot going on there so listen to it all the way through.
