christ cakes, do you really need almost 1 terabyte hard drive? It's gonna be like 910gigs! Sounds good, but i don't really dig on flat panel screens, great options though! Should last some time....

Dude, you're getting a Dell. Yat(somewhat).  Nice specs. You have the video card as me and if BF1942 is the only game you play, your card is gonna be awesome. Ask me if you want to tweak it like overclock or increase fan speeds.
Y no OS?  If you want a bit more of multimedia things, get the Dell Enhanced Keyboard and another mouse. Trust me on that. Good speakers, but maybe think about upgrading sound card to a X-FI xtremeMusic. With monitors, we now go into the whole debate of widescreen vs. regular. I have a dell 20 inch widescreen which is great for me, but does have horrible response time.  You can never have too much hard drive space. But for a gamer and if your looking down the road, try to see your other video card options.

Now if your filthy rich, y not go for this model XPS 710 H2C. About $5000, but dual SLI GeForce 880GTX's, overclocked Core 2 Duo Extreme edition, 4 gigs ram, xtrememusic sound card, plus other great stuff. I think its also liquid cooled.

Anyways great computer you are thinking of getting there. I myself own the XPS 600. For $3300, other people here will say to build your own and get even better stuff, and I'm going to have to agree with them. But it's your decision so I respect that. Dam Kat, now I'm jealous.

Be sure the monitor has a low ms time like 8ms or below or games will ghost and drive you nuts. Also get a better sound card onboard sound is like the min and not good for games.

Hey Kat, I just saw that your also going to get new speakers, why would you do that? You got like a 300 (or 500) watt system already right? So you can spend the money on a better soundcard / screen, what bone said

Are you going to put 100's of DVD's and games on your computer?  The storage space on that beast is crazy.

Nice! But one thing I saw that raised concern was the Physics Accelerator. There are not many games that use that technology( only about 5 or so). Since you probably have high speed internet/DSL, you didn't need the 56k Modem, but what the hell, eh? You have your own mouse? What about the OS? Linux? Make sure you have good speakers for that sound card. I'm looking for that card but can not find it in any U.S stores. You're gonna have great time with this compy!!!

Fry's Electronics right? Yea, I have gone there several times and I have never seen it in stock. Then I ask the people that work in the audio department and they're like sorry we don't carry it in stock anymore.

Here's the link to it and there are none except for the OEM version. I don't really know what that means, but it is way too cheap to be the real thing.

HOLY FUCK!!! 1 TB!!!! Wowsers. Almost all the same spec as before right? So what happened to the order? How did they mess it up?
Title: Computer
Post by: KaTaLySt on January 23, 2007, 06:47:22 PM
they doubled the order. and i lost the credit needed to purchase it. so i called them up and asked them who ordered the extra computer. so i had to cancel it and reorder. basically same set up instead of getting the xps 710 semi decked i got the xps 410 fully decked , minus the gaming speakers since i have a nice set already.
