Drum stuff
« on: November 03, 2006, 09:25:37 PM »

Okay so for Christmas instead of making my parents by me a double bass i would rather go less and just get a double kick for one bas drum. Including a New Crash cymbal, Ride cymbal, and of course 2 stands for them. I was looking at this for double kick but i need help for cymbals and if there is a better double kick. http://www.zzounds.com/item--PEAP122TW

The powershifter is a lower-end double pedal. If you want to go within that kind of price range you are probably better off going with this one. Pearl's lower-end hardware isn't worth shit, but their high-end stuff is great... that's how they get you. Now as far as the hardware goes i'd go with either high-end pearl stands or yamaha stands. The cymbals are different story all together. I'm sure you know of course that it all depends on what kind of sound you are wanting to get out of them. Different brands and different models suit different kinds of sounds. Cymbals are like video cards for drummers... People prefer one brand over another. Happy hunting.

btw... i've found Musicians Friend and Midwest Percussion to be the cheapest places to get your gear aside from local shops.

Just tie some sticks to your feet and kick it, and use cans for symbols. String from the celling will hold them.

Hope that helps :p

lol, if you've got the skills the aesthetics make little difference, give your folks a break and go for the cheap option. I think Zildjian have the best sounding symbals though if your gonna fleese them.

it's all about zildjians baby! It all depends on the music you play though, different brands make different sounds.

As for kick...the one balth recommended is a good choice unless you have a higher budget range I would purchase the Pearl Eliminator.  I've tried a lot of pedals out there and the Pearl Eliminator is awesome plus it is a lot cheaper than the DW 9002 pedal.  That's gonna be my next pedal purchase once my other pedal is demolished.

also if you need to know what cymbol dimensions you need to get, let us know how many you need and the dimensions of your drums.

drums meaning your toms, snare, bass, floor toms, etc...

what are the size of them?  as in width and height.  I'm just suggesting that if you have smaller dimensions don't get cymbals that are so large and loud that they will overpower your skins so you can barely hear them.  You want everything balanced.

Dude, I have to disagree somewhat, 99% of drums have standard dimensions you can't get mini or giant snares or any other part of a drum kit unless you pay a ridiculous ammount for a company to customise it for you.

Actually you can, there are bigger bases then others and bigger toms.
