There is a program you can use to access a website without shutting it down. It's called Adobe Acrobat, the full program, not the reader. You go to file>open web page. You can set number of levels down you want to go to and to stay on the server or follow links.

Games / Battlefront 2 System Requirements
« on: October 31, 2005, 11:51:19 PM »
The first Battlefront was built on the BF1942 engine. Several Mafia played the original game and we liked it. Battlefront 2 is just that much better. The graphics are great and they've added new planets and best of all is you can play as a Jedi and get to battle in outer space.

There's a training mode, a single player mode with instant battles and campaigns and multiplayer mode WITH NO PAY TO PLAY.
Maps are Assault, Conquest and Capture the Flag.

100% DirectX 9c compatable computer
Windows 2000/XP
Intel P4 1.5 GHz or AMD Athlon XP 1500+
256 mb Memory
64 mb 3D Video Card with Vertex Shader and Pixel Shader capability
DirectX 9c compatable Sound Card (I'm using on-board sound)
8x CD-ROM
Keyboard and mouse  (Joystick and Gamepad supported)
DSL, Cable or faster Internet connection for multiplayer
4.3 GB of hard drive space

Supported chipsets
ATI Radeon 8500/9000/9200 family
ATI Radeon 9500/9600/9700/9800 family
ATI Radeon X300/X600/X800/X850 family
NVIDIA GeForce3 Family
NVIDIA GeForce4 Family excluding GeForce MX
NVIDIA GeForce FX Family

So, as you can see it doesn't take a whoop-ass computer for this game.

My ingame name is Blue Dun but that is just 1 of the profiles I can use.

BF 1942 / Admin needed
« on: October 31, 2005, 05:24:08 PM »
Playing on the server today I was harrassed repeatedly by one of the DAC clan who changed sides and was blowing up our equipment killing our guys and then repeatedly pushed me away from the windows I was sniping at so I couldn't shoot. He kept this up for five minutes while I asked for an admin to ban him to no avail so I had to quit playing. I think an admin should have intervened and looked into my request. 7 clan members including Missa, Kraut Killer and Milky were on at the time.

I converted a 22 second long Fraps .avi  file to Windows Media .wmv files using WMEncoder.exe from Microsoft.

The .avi file is 351 megs.

The first conversion was to 1280 x 720 pixels,  a 13 meg file.

The second conversion was to 640 x 480 pixels. a 5.5 meg file.

Doesn't this guy have something better to do with his time? He's acting like some 60 year old fart that plays computer games all day. I mean, damn, if he doesn't like the way our server's run he better sell his comp. because we have the only server playing BF2? Last I looked EA had over 30 servers alone. He must be in real (Markis) agony over this/ I know I'm sweating all over the place. Opps my bad, it's piss. Time to go change my diaper, coming markis?

Back when I started playing BF the term hacker was used for whiz kids who invaded other people's comps for kicks and anyone who used hacks for playing BF was called a cheater. As for my story, the word story isn't neccessarily reserved for a piece of fiction. My story was the truth as best my fading 59 year old brain can remember. As soon as I find my crutch I'll bang myself on the head and straighten it all out.

Years ago, I purchased BF1942 when it was version 1.01. After several months I found myself playing mostly on the Veteran Bastards [VB] server. I came to know one of the players very well as he lived only 2 blocks away. He introduced me to the rest of the VB crew and I was granted the title of FD (friend of VB) Blue Dun, a title I carried for 3 more months until I was invited to join VB at which point my title became [VB] Blue Dun. Later I was granted admin rights to the BF server and the TS server we used.
As a clan we held weekly battles against other clans on several nights and practiced as a team on other scheduled nights. We became one of the top 5 clans in BF1942 and were loved my many and hated by many too.

We had always been plagued by cheaters as this was long before Punk Buster. I took it on myself to try to find a way to detect cheaters and downloaded several cheats to see how they could be detected from an admins view.

'll have to give you a little background to explain what happened next.
As I said we had a very good clan, but the head guy was a very head strong person.
Several of us started playing Planetside when our BF server was a little slow so we set up a room on Team Speak for Planetside. Well, after a few weeks the head man blew his top, "Why are you guys playing Planetside instead of BF?". Since most of the guys in the clan were playing Planetside he couldn't single anyone out to ban.

One day the head man and his employee, also a VB, can to my shop to set up one of my comps as a server for the clan to upload and download files and programs. He saw the icons for the cheats on my desktop but didn't say a word or ask me why they were there. A few days later he was posting things on the VB forum about how he knew someone in the clan was cheating and they knew who they were. I didn't say anything because my friend down the street knew why I had the cheats.
To make the rest of the story short I was forced to quit VB. I know the reason I was forced out was because of my playing Planetside but he used the cheats to tell everyone I was cheating. Several in the clan told him I wasn't and that I had them to see how to stop them but he wouldn't listen so I quit.

I don't feel that I did anything wrong and that my character of Blue Dun is one that I want to continue so from this day on my handle for BF1942 will Blue Dun.

Thank you for reading this.

BF 1942 / You Gotta Try This
« on: September 09, 2005, 03:08:40 PM »
You guys just have to try out The Eve Of Destruction (EoD) Mod for Bf 1942. This thing has some great maps. I 've been trying out a few and I think you'll love them. You can download at FileShack among other places. Just make sure you download DAP (Download Accelerator Pro) first, it'll double your download speeds.
