OK I've heard several people complain over and over, and today Titties and I were playing 1.6, and lagging terribly! Everyone else on the server was complaining about it as well, so I know it wasn't just us. I'm just curious, do you guys experience the same thing, and if so, how often, and what suggestions do you have as to what is causing it and how to fix it...

I just quit playing because of the lag... I thought someone was maby FTP'ing, but I guess its just a server problem

my comp is just slow, so mine is always in a perpetual state of lagginess. i dont think i've ever seen any1 in 1.61 or fear, and a dc server was pretty fun.

I say we get rid of them all and just put up a Star Wars: Jedi Outcast 2 server! hah

LOL...and yes i do have up-to-date pc and a cable connection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it because there is to many servers with to little bandwidth?

I closed the 161 and fear servers and their managers. The cpu was in the high 90's now it dropped to the upper 50's So lets see what it does now.
The bandwidth is great I transfered a large 100mb file between the game server and the website and it went either way in like 20 seconds. Right now its sitting at 350KBs upload and 100KBs download.
So lets see what happens.

I wouldnt even plan on getting another server. The 1.6 server is really laggy.

I was wondering, when do we have to pay agian for this server?
wouldn't it be better to get a different one. cause I don't think we are doing anything wrong, the maby the host is fucked up.

I think I found the root of the evil, the server had dep turned on for all programs. That is why the cpu was always in the red and the memory use was always low.
I turned dep off, and made some config changes. Lets see what it does now.

So far so good, will see how it goes but it seems better already, until the server is maxed out i can't really tell yet, but seems to be doing well with 20+ noob's in there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good jobby Boner......... .............. ..

Probably because you are a Swedish piece of shit and the majority of the servers are several thousand miles away from your ISP's switch station.

We are in ventrilo right now, and misfit and pat are both complaining about the lag too. We think it got something to do that when one server changes maps , the other servers get laggy.

Or because we have 2 pretty populated servers running.

I just had to log off today becuase the sever wouldnt even run 30 seconds without it lagging out. Today it seemed like it was the worst its ever been.

Got to chime in here....I just got off the server and it was lagging but not as bad as usual...That being said way too many people have been complaining and leaving complaining of the lag...I am not an expert in these kind of things but I would suggest us running just 1 server until we can figure out what is causing this horrendous lag problem

The server is just fine, maybe a faster cpu but other than that its a good server.
I have noticed when the 1.6 has 40 people the cpu idles at 90% so if anyone farts it will cause lag. Once the cpu maxes out it will be lag city.
I say we cut the slots back to say 32? But I also agree that something is going on, and I can not find it. So maybe a server upgrade would be in order... Dunno you all decide.

Yeah cut both servers down to 32, see if that fixes. Although we were running 40, along with the 1.61 which I played everyday, and it didn't lag. Remember we've had this server for like 5 months now.

Just an update. It's lagging evern worst right now. 22 Players on Coral Sea. No ones ping is over 90.

I just checked the cpu is at 40-60% with 22 players on mafia 16 and 0 on misfits. That is kinda high for 1 server and 22 players.

We went to Market Garden and have 36 players, just a little lag, barely noticeable

yep, i was on when rat was on and it was horrendous. I think we should do server update....if the cpu usage is around 60% then a slot cutdown wouldn't seem to do much, i think an update is in order?

Yesterday when I played it was lagging th eshit out of me again. Not that I cannot pwn the newblets with lag, but I mean if you need 15 seconds to aim at someone standing still because of the lag, then ya thats no fun.
I don't think this kind of lag is normal for a server that cotst $85. I think its best to not pay on the 25th (if we haven't paid it already), and find a new server.

Just wondering...be sides the new spawn points on coral, what else has changed recently to cause this much lag?

Pro,Ratman , Boemann and myself were on earlier tonight and the lag was so bad people were leaving the server...At one point I couldn't even walk and my plane fell out of the sky...It was on Tobruk, Coral Sea as well as El Alamein...berl in was not that bad but the maps with planes and ships were out of control..I know this is getting out of control with people bitching but we really need to address this before no one plays on our server

I have looked at all settings went through the registry, I even went as far as to change the server allocations for bf1942 alone.
We have to options at this point. Either we suck up and run "1" bf1942 server or we get a Xeon server.
I will leave this up to you all, a Xeon cpu is meant for server use. Our current server has a P4 witch which is good for internet aps like apache, sql, php for a website.
So at this point *MAFIA* needs to decide.

A lot... $130 to $180 a month... But the horse power would be real usefull to us. That is if we could keep it. That much power we could run many servers with no lag.

Just wondering, are you sure its the CPU? I mean, can't it be something else, cause like a month ago we didn't have this crazy ass lag

Bone...I for one appreciate everything you are trying to do here...Please do not think for one minute anyone is blaming you...I know you don't but I just wanted to state the obvious...That being said, I do believe we need to explore the options available and then as a clan make a decision...You can count on me for the monetary support I am always good for each month

Well boemann, since then. Partyboy has added more mods to the maps. That is the only thing I can think of that has changed.

I love you Bone as a person, and really appreciate your hard work for the clan. Just had to say that. I agree with swampfox, lets look at what the options are and then decide as a clan on what to do.
I was wondering, is it possible to buy a seperate XEON processor, and then ask the hostcompany to put it in the server?
