I played the Clarinet from age 10 to 13 and was in The Leeds junior concert band. It was cool and I got to play around the country at different town halls and stuff. I gave it up just before high school because my music teacher was a total bitch and I began dreading re-hearsals rather than enjoying them. I can still play some clarinet classics though like Stranger on the Shore, the Pink Panther theme and Rapsody in Blue. At High school I became friends with a band who didn't have a bass player so I decided to learn the bass. We were basically a 4 chord band but playd our own original stuff and had alot of gigs at youthclubs, schools and hired rooms in pubs til I was 18. Then joined another band when I was about 21 and did some serious gigging. We mainly played covers because the singer although excellent wasn't much of a songwriter, plus we found when playing pubs and bars drunk people wanna hear stuff they rechognise and if you can pull the crowd in you get more money. I don't play much anymore but am always up for a jam. I went to a music festival a month ago, wandered around the campsite after dark and bumped into some complete strangers who had accoustic guitars and harmonica's. We jammed til the morning and pulled in a pretty large crowd of hippies playing stuff like Bob Dylan, CSN, CCR, The Doors etc. Great days!
