hey guy's i am shopping for a new computer and found a motherboard and video card and i just wondered if what my friend told me was true, is a pci Express x16 faster than an agp 8x card?
-
No, they aren't. PCI x16 IS faster, but the cards aren't faster themselves, not yet anyway.

I hope this MoBo you are talking about is a PCI express board... You can't take a PCI express V-card and put in a old board, the PCI v-cards "plug" is the other way around (the slot is at the front not the back) from other PCI type cards.
EDIT... Also I am almost sure there isn't power running to a PCI express slot (power is pluged into the card).

The board... Why go so small? You only have two slots for ram, WTF. IMO you can get a better MoBo for the same cost and it would be BIG so you can get a nice MINI tower and have all kinds of room to add things later.
V-Card... How good is a card going to be that only cost $66, think about it.
The drive... Again how good is a ComBo drive going to be at only $30. Anyhow IF you are going to get a DVD\CD, get a burner and make sure it is a duel layer burner.
IMO you are better off saving money to get the better stuff instead of getting cheap stuff now.

Why would he need a dual layer burner? He obviously doesn't/can't spend alot of money. Unless he plans on backing up everything to dual layer discs, which is just retarded if you ask me, he doesn't need it.
-
Well the reason I said the DL burner is because of the diff in cost (around $20 more, YES the DL disk are alot), IF he was to get a burner.
By the way, they do burn faster then a single layer drive.

No, single layer discs can all be burnt at the same speed, dual layer or not.
