It seems to be in the need of some flame. Is it too hard to get coverage if you have "pre-existing" conditions? Is it over priced? And what about the whole government thing?
What are your thoughts...

I don't really care. Just stay healthy. Problem Fucking Solved.
-
are you speaking of the heath ledger care system?
-
As a manager in a healthcare environment I can tell you this. There is no simple solution to the current healthcare system in this country but I do have an idea for a good start.
-Make it more cost effective for primary care providers and healthcare wouldn't cost so damn much to begin with.
It's the old analogy of Cost and Demand.
There is a massive markup from your most common vendors to supply your primary care providers with essential functioning supplies, manpower, necessary amenities to operate a healthcare facility, practice, or institution. If this markup is decreased then your primary care providers would not have to charge an elevated rate to provide healthcare.
Simply stated... Make it cheaper to provide healthcare and healthcare wouldn't cost so damn much. <- Period

Genius! The man with the creepy clown sig says it all!
-
Here is a thought... Stop the health care providers from charging $20 for "1" Tylenol, I bet that would help.

Nancy Pelosi: "Congress has to pass the bill so you can find out what's in it, away from the fog of controversy." <--- Red alert here!

All i know is that until January 1st 2010, i didn't have health care provided by my employer because i missed open enrollment the year before. The result? 75 dollars for ONE canister of albuterol (for asthma). When i had to visit the doctor to have a broken bone reset in my foot, 225 bucks out of pocket for a 20 minute procedure, tops.
Now i have coverage through my work, but still ridiculous that that sort of cost can be applied to meds that retail way below the selling price.
-
Health care reform isn't even the main focus of the country right now, yet it's all the current administration wants to talk about. I'm all for supplying health care to every American, I'm for a new system. However, trying to pass something that won't even affect people for several more years isn't the way to go. Let us keep in mind that this plan is a huge deficit just waiting to happen. If this thing passes, the tax rates are sure to sky rocket in an attempt to lessen the blow. In all honestly, I feel that this make shift plan is the worst thing that could happen. If they actually thought it through, they would employ a larger infrastructure of doctors and nurses first to prepare for the large increase in medical procedures. This monstrosity will go down as Obama's legacy.

As well as the elderly and the 20 somethings.
At every hospital i've done a revenue analysis in those are the two demographic ranges that have the highest statistical rate of non-reimbursed cost i.e. No health insurance i.e. Hospital having to charge the government for services rendered (Medicare, Medicaid, DSH, i.e. your tax dollars).
It's a matter of finding balance between an imperial system and a socialized system.
-
... so why is it the people in the middle of those two groups are being forced to provide for immaturity and senility?
Rhetorical Question?

MG, watch those videos. I really hope you see how stupid all of those people are. 99% of the people who hate it are just following the mob mentality and yet have no clue what it actually is about. I also hope that you are not a Teabagger (inb4 lol teabagging).

She's not, she's a teabaggee, and moving to Canada.

agreed. But what happened 10 years ago? Actually it was before that even: Managed health care (hmo & ppo) and the restructuring of government reimbursements have created a shift in the medical market. I have clients that have gone bankrupt as a result of the restructuring. And, the restructuring didnt change or help anything.
The United States is alone among developed nations in not having a universal health care system.
The U.S. Census Bureau estimated that 15.3% of the U.S. population, or 45.7 million people, were uninsured at some time in 2007.
More than 38% of the uninsured are in households earning $50,000 or more per year.

Copypasta from wikipedia, but look at that link. We spend the most, and receive the least. No other developed nation does not have universal health care. What in sam hell is so bad about it people?! Our current system blows, and no other developed country uses it.

Well lets see... The pure cost of this system will increase the national debt 5 fold. I guess it's not a bad thing if you want the US to be pushed into a world economy, or even owned by fucking China.

I am a part of the uninsured/without healthcare statistics and I too oppose the bill.
Yes, the United States may be the only developed country to not use a system like this, but we also are a [modified] free market. The country was made so people could pursue and be awarded for their risk taken, if they are paying 50%+ tax then what would be the point of taking a risk?
I also think that Obama should have worried more about getting us out of our current debt left by bush before a healthcare bill, or the projected 1.5 trillion that is projected to be spent this year.

My daughter told me yesterday that she's going to continue living at home for another 4 years. Said since she can be covered by my insurance to 26 there's no reason to move out. Thanks Obama
-
What I disagree with is the providing insurance to those who "choose" to be irresponsible and lazy. There are those who "choose" to take from society rather than give, they "choose" to buy cigarettes, weed, hooch, unhealthy foods, and purchase items of no value with the monies they have instead of providing insurance. I see it in my office all the time. They "choose" to forego insurance because they know the government will take care of that.
There also those who choose to give these irresponsible and lazy people their own money without knowing them fully, buy them a camera and a computer, have personal relations with them, and then complain because they took their money.

what exactly are you trying to say, rosh!
Why are you complaining about having to work hard and giving your money to lazy people for health care? You're giving money and resources to people you meet off of the internet that are the same type of people you described. So what's the difference? I thought an educated person like you and a Harvard mom would have known better from the beginning.

How is that Obama's fault? It's your family and your daughter...do something about it if you don't want her to stay at home. People need to stop looking to the government as their scapegoat for their personal problems.
-
Why is it Obama passed it with only about 43% on the topic? I mean, I do (somewhat) agree with universal health care, but how is that possible with a represented government to pass something the people don't want?

Another example of the federal government passing a bill that was largely unsupported:

Now I can take this and turn it into a joke in two ways.
Option A. Yeah, and that was just what he went through getting over here from Mexico
Or
Option B. Yeah, and then he met MG who gave him some money, computer, sneakers and a camera and then he got better. That was until she realized what he was about and now he is headed back to the bridge.
Lets let the judges decide which is better.

Option B all the way.

I'll take B for 100 Alex. ;D

Seeing as that B actually happened I wouldn't classify as a 'joke', although it is funny as hell... But, who is to say A didn't happen as well?
Either way, Much LuLz

And, Im still amazed at the resiliency of those "sneakers". After seeing Missy yesterday, I can attest that the "sneakers" are alive and well, still wearing strong, and look better than ever. Good buy, I'd say. O0 ;D
and...thanks for taking the health care thread hostage. :-*
Please don't tell me that he wore sneakers to the service..

Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro on Thursday declared passage of American health care reform "a miracle" and a major victory for Obama's presidency, but couldn't help chide the United States for taking so long to enact what communist Cuba achieved decades ago....
Now we know why SO many americans choose to swim/raft towards Cuba. Such the land of opportunity, it is. ::)
You DO realize their health care system is far better than ours in the US, right?
"One grand irony, Cuba whose economy has been bankrupt for the last decade -- food shortages, drug shortages, chronic unemployment, etc. -- and which annually spends a miserly $185 per person on health care, has better infant and adult mortality rates than the US, and has a life expectancy nearly equal to ours."
"The U.S. Health system looks especially dysfunctional when you consider how much money we spend per capita on healthcare -- $6,000 plus per year, twice as much as any other country -- and how little we get for it."
"Switzerland spends about 11% of its Gross Domestic Product on universal health care for all its citizens, while the U.S. (with 50 million uninsured this year) spends 15% of GDP with embarrassing results."
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/blake-fleetwood/cuba-has-better-medical-c_b_19664.html
Everyone needs to understand.... our system now just does not work.

You do realise that Cuba only has about 11,5 million citizens compared to America's 300+ million?

you do realize it's money spent per capita, right? So population size has nothing to do with this discussion about GDP or money spent per citizen. It's a percentage of the gross domestic product, dolt.
