I was thinking of getting a cat. After weighing up the negatives it doesn't seem like a good idea. I'm out from 11am to 10pm so I'd have to leave the cat indoors or out without food. I could get a catflap but that means asking my landlady who wouldn't appreciate me cutting a hole in her door. Besides there's so many cats in the area I'd end up having strange cats screwing on my rug while I'm out and spraying cat pherimones allover stinking up the place.

??? Cats take care of themselves... Bowl of food. Bowl of water, a litter box and they are good to go for sometime alone, days really. Get it "fixed" and front claws removed and you have a fun animal, even I have a cat.  No need to ever let it go outside and if you do de-claw, never should it go outside, no way to protect itself. Now if you were joking disregard what I just posted.

We have a cat door that goes to a small 10X10 ft enclosure that our cats use to shit and piss. No clean up, and no smell because they bury it.

Dogs eat their own shit, and larger ones tend to have a funky odor and a need to sniff crotch. I'm sure some dogs are cool, but they just take too much to up keep.

I have no problem with cats usually but i would not want one in my house. They shed everywhere. Whenever i go over to a freinds house that has a cat i always come home with cat hair on my clothes. its gross. And they stink up houses. Outdoor cats are even worse.
