Title: Music/Bands
Post by: Dymdez on August 29, 2009, 07:49:59 AM
I had a nice talk with Dune and Bob yesterday about bands and such. Discovered they play bass and are both in bands...Well I think Dune WAS anyway. I myself am a hardcore drummer for almost 10 years now. Anyone else have any talents or in a band??

I was a light man for a Classic rock garage band in the 70's.

EDIT: I also play a pretty mean butt trumpet after eating a bean burrito.

I play acoustic, electric, classical, and soon-to-be 12 string guitar.  I own a harmonica and kazoo but don't know how to play them well.  I've also been known to play the keyboard from time to time.  I have a recorder too that I am a decent player at.

I've never been in a school band or garage band or whatever...I've just randomly played with some buddies from time to time.  When we have our *MAFIA* union, we should bring our instruments and jam out while playing the 1942 theme song.

I've played Tenor Saxophone and Baritone Saxophone for about 8 years now. I've done jazz, classical, and marching band music.

If it was a white singer, would you have said "before the white singer went crazy," or just "the singer" went crazy

I actually started playing the double bass when I was like 11 (at the time it was the little version like quater bass or something I forget) was taught by the bass player for the Fresno philharmonic orchestra (means nothing but that bitch could play!) played that til I was around 17, and got my first electric (guitar) bass around the age of 15 and have played both off and on. Could pick up a double bass right now, rosin up that bow, tighten it to my liking, and play the pirates of the caribean theme song nearly flawlessly... But ask me to play nearly ANY scale and we would have a problem. And I could pick up a bass guitar and play nearly any scale you wish but can't play a single song unless I'm just coasting along.

I played the Clarinet from age 10 to 13 and was in The Leeds junior concert band. It was cool and I got to play around the country at different town halls and stuff. I gave it up just before high school because my music teacher was a total bitch and I began dreading re-hearsals rather than enjoying them. I can still play some clarinet classics though like Stranger on the Shore, the Pink Panther theme and Rapsody in Blue. At High school I became friends with a band who didn't have a bass player so I decided to learn the bass. We were basically a 4 chord band but playd our own original stuff and had alot of gigs at youthclubs, schools and hired rooms in pubs til I was 18. Then joined another band when I was about 21 and did some serious gigging. We mainly played covers because the singer although excellent wasn't much of a songwriter, plus we found when playing pubs and bars drunk people wanna hear stuff they rechognise and if you can pull the crowd in you get more money. I don't play much anymore but am always up for a jam. I went to a music festival a month ago, wandered around the campsite after dark and bumped into some complete strangers who had accoustic guitars and harmonica's. We jammed til the morning and pulled in a pretty large crowd of hippies playing stuff like Bob Dylan, CSN, CCR, The Doors etc. Great days!

I have been playing drums since i was 7-8 year old. At the age of 11 I got really interested in guitar, and started playing guitar also. Today I still play both instruments.
