Last night my computer got completely fucked. Amazingly, the only application I can open is Firefox, which I never use. Whenever I try to open anything else, a little box pops up on my toolbar at the bottom saying:
"Windows Security Alert"
Application cannot be executed. The file ______ is infected.
Do you want to activate your antivirus system?"
But the antivirus software that it wants me to use is not the one I have installed, and it brings me to some bullshit website. So I believe this is actually the problem. I don't know how to get rid of it, I can't get on vent to ask you guys, and I can't check my email. I have about 100 of those boxes now clogging up my toolbar and then every now and then a different one pops up saying my computer is infected.
Another common one is:
(the same as above except it says)
"The file wuauclt.exe is infected"
The antivirus software I have is Avast, which is what Beatle gave me, I believe. And it hasn't failed me until now. I did not get an alarm when this happened, or anything. But I scanned it and it found a trojan horse and malware which I removed. However this has not seemed to help.
I have tried to shut down, but as usual, that doesn't do shit.
I need some help, and fast before my dad flips the fuck out.

Did I give you Malware Bytes? Restart your computer in safe mode and run that. Do you still have Team Viewer???...

No you didn't. And I can try that tomorrow, but I don't have time now. Yes I still have it Beatle, and it seems to be working too.

It's hoaxware, as Beatle suggested Malwarebytes Antimalware should clean it up, if not you might want to try combofix.

Avast = junk at detecting rogues (but it's great for everything else). Download Malwarebytes Antimalware, rename the executable, update it, and run a quick scan. If the rogue doesn't let you do that, snag SuperAntiSpywa re and run that, then try running Malwarebytes. If you have Windows XP 32 bit, grab combofix and run it, if you don't, don't use combofix. If none of that works, grab GMER and scan for rootkits (if you have a 32 bit OS), if it can't find anything and you still have an infection, get UBCD4Win, update the Avira antivir and superantispywa re plug ins, burn the ISO file to a disc and boot from it. Scan with Avira and superantispywa re and you should get rid of whatever is on your computer.
If you still can't get it cleaned up, head over to http://www.geekstogo.com and post in the malware section, they can clean anything and will help you do it for free. After you're cleaned, use either Avast, MSE, or Avira. I would do weekly scans with Malwarebytes and superantispywa re after you are cleaned, modern AVs just can't keep up with malware and you need secondary tools. If you can stand the pop-ups and annoyances, grab Comodo firewall and defense+ -- if you know what you are doing, it's virtually impossible to get infected with that.
Oh and if you're going to run GMER or combofix, I would highly suggest backing up your important data. Combofix is pretty automatic, but if you hit the wrong button with GMER, you'll screw up your whole computer and need to reinstall the OS.

Everything was working ok last night after Beatle helped me, but I restarted it today and now it's back to what it was. All I can open is Firefox and I have another 100 popups on my toolbar.

otherwise go to hp.com or whatever kind of computer system you have website and do a live chat with someone, they will help. I lost my wireless card or it got deleted the otehr day somehow and they gave me all the right steps, easy.

Ok I've finally gotten this shit off of my computer, but I'm still having one problem. I can't use Safari anymore. Everytime I open a window, I just get an error message:
"Safari can’t open the page.

Something probably removed some malware attached to safari. Just uninstall and reinstall the program.
