Title: PS3 question
Post by: *MAFIA* Hellraiser on June 12, 2010, 10:08:01 AM
So is there anyway I can put an external hard drive to my ps3?  I have one to spare and would like to just put movies on it to watch, or transfer over to my PS3 that I have ripped, so how can I do it?

There are a couple of ways of going about this.

I do a couple of things on mine. I watch directly off the PS3 by uploading to the internal drive and I also stream from my PC.

To upload to the PS3 I use http://www.redkawa.com/fileserver/ (http://www.redkawa.com/fileserver/), it allows you to browse your PC files from your PS3 browser on your local network. All of my movies are in .divx format so no conversion is needed since the native video format of PS3 is .avi/.divx, MPEG's should work fine as a direct upload as well

I also use TVersity http://tversity.com/download (http://tversity.com/download) to stream from my PC if I don't want to upload the video files to my PS3. You can access the video files one of two ways, direct via the 'Media Server' option in PS3 or stream your video files as flash using the PS3 browser.

Hope this helps
