Hey yall i need some help with my patches. I work 6 days a week and i dont have time to use computers that much so i need some help. I was tryin to install my DC final ya see and when i try to get on a DC final server it says wrong version. The one player works fine and i have it installed in the right folder (i think). Here is some basic info that i know the "experts" want to know: i am runnin a window xp, i have service pack two, i am runnin DC .7 right now and cant update.
I have a problem with bf 1.61 also. when i try to install that all that happens is every thing in bf dosent work, i cant get on any servers when i have the 1.61 patch atctivated and i cant even find the servers. The filter comes up empty everytime, and my favs all say falied to connected when i try to get on them. The ping is listed as 9999 on the favs also.
anyway this is about all i can tell you i do need some help because im very computerly challenge. I dont work with computers like these at my job lol the machinery is so much easier to run than these crazy PCs ill tell ya. Also as a side note i was kinda thinkin about gettin Photoshop, but my low income dosent permit that so any body know where i can get it for free around here.

Understand this isn't the easiest thing to do and help ppl on line but we will give it a try...
Lets start simple... Out of the 2 patches here what one did you install... 1.61.tar.gz (http://ftp://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/misc/bf1942-update-1.61.tar.gz) or this one v1.6_to_v1.61b .exe (http://ftp://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/patches/battlefield_1942_incremental_patch_v1.6_to_v1.61b.exe)?
EDIT... We should move this to the "Battlefield Help" forums. If that is ok with you let me know.

"Simple" solution. Uninstall everything in this order:
1) DC Final (even if it doesnt work)
2) DC .7
3) Battlefield.
Then restart your computer and do the following:
1) Install BF out of the box.
2) Install the 1.6 patch.
3) Install the 1.61 patch.
4) Install DC .7.
5) Install DC Final.
I had problems kinda like this and I did what i just said here and now my shit works fine. Although you probably don't need to, I restarted after I installed each individual thing.

Ok that was good, because that one is the right patch... Well any update?

sry havent tried yet im busy at work but i do have another problem. ok so i go to use my hacks in the 1.2 public version. well ever since a few weeks ago the fog wont turn off the and the zoom wont work either. so i tried downloading a new file and that didnt work at all so being a computer retard i have no idea how to fix it.
