I BOUGHT A LAPTOP OF THIS YEAR WITH WINDOWS VISTA. I INSTALLED BF1942. BUT BECAUSE I GOT THE BATTLEFIELD WITH 2 CD'S, I HAVE TO INSTALL THE 1,6 PATCH BECAUSE THE ONE WITH 2 CD'S ISN'T INSTALLING IT OUTHISSELF.I'VE TRYED A FEW TIMES TO DOWNLOAD THE 1.6 PATCH, BUT FOR SOME REASON I CANT INSTALL THE PATCH. NOW THE QUESTION IS: IS IT BECAUSE THE 1,6 PATCH AND BF1942 IS TO OLD FOR VISTA? OR IS I JUST BECAUSE I DO SOMETHING WRONG.

i think u can right click on the game icon or folder, go in properties and then go to compatibility mode.  there select it to run under windows xp.  that could solve it.

r u sure u downloaded the correct file.

do the same for the .exe installer.

for bf1942 to run correctly, it's my understanding that you right click and set it to "run in windows 98/ME compatibility mode"

I know the XP selection makes more sense, but on the gamingforums.c om under "vista problems" people say that you have to run it in 98/ME compatibility mode.

The problem is your caps lock key is stuck... Fix that and all will be fine with your install.
