Title: Special Day
Post by: *MAFIA* Scooby on September 11, 2007, 02:41:58 PM
I want to take this time to remember those that have lost their lives on September 11, 2001.  I don't have any family or friends that were involved in it, but if one of you guys had lost a special person from your life on that day, I give my sincere regards and hope for the best.  This also goes out to those that are serving or have served in the forces to keep our country safe and preserve freedom.

(Please, if you are going to write anything dumb or spam, you are dishonoring the thousands of people who died.)

why are we gonna honour someone who didnt get out of a building after it had been hit by a big ass airplane?  They stayed in it because some dumbass said it was safe..

Why give up Roshan, just ignore that...some people realize what a huge impact that day had and its not good to "forget" history.  I'm sure the people who want to flame this would feel differently if someone they love died.

The only people who need to be honoured is the men and women fighting over sea's to stop this from happening again.

Beatle, that made no sense... people died, would you want someone to "HONOR" and remember your death like a holiday? I sure wouldn't want anyone to "HONOR" my death, in fact that's like saying "Yea their dead!"

History is history, its done and over with, but why in humanity remember tragedy?

What doesn't make sense about it -- where in my post do you see the word "honor?"  I wasn't talking about honoring anybody, I was just telling Roshan not to give up on his thread, and I was saying to remember 9/11.  I think what Roshan meant was that when we do that, remember 9/11, we're not honoring that they died, we're honoring their lives.

Its the same thing with memorials built of soldiers - we're honoring their service, not the fact that they died and we're celebrating their death.  If you think we should just "forget" tragedy, then I guess you want us to just forget about all the world wars and other historical events we learn about right?

I don't want to turn this into yet another big debate, I think Roshan just wanted to make a simple post and we should leave it at that.

(your post above says its editted by me because I hit "modify" instead of quote; I didn't change anything though)

Bone, here's one of my most favorite quotes...."history forgotten is destined to be repeated."

The quote is quite true, if we "forget" what happened to people, we'll go on pretending that nothing happened, lower our security, BAM! It could happen all over again.

And what do you mean you don't like people honoring the dead? What do you think veterans day is? Christmas?  Is it also uncalled for to not put flowers on loved ones graves? Because they are dead, you should just forget that they existed?

I'm just trying to clarify here, not pointing fingers...

Christmas is about the birth of Christ, Easter would be the one about His death & resurrection.  Sorry I just wanted to clarify that, back to 9/11...

Look, you do not honor the dead, you do not remember them. In the end death, war, suffering, tragedy, will mean nothing and will be wiped from the minds. So why remember someone in a sleep, or being dead, or the way they died? I only remember the good in someone I love as they where alive, not their death or the date they died.

Death by God's terms, is a temporary sleep, Do not morn the dead, for long you will not remember mans ways...

Read it up beatle...

So bone you're saying, for example, that if you got shot in combat on D-day while you were fighting for your country and trying to protect your home and kids, that you wouldn't want your kids to remember what you did for them that day?

Same concept here...people tried to save others and get them out of harms way and died in the process of it.  Their families want to remember the good things they did before they died.

We aren't the families, and no, I would want my kids to remember me but not of my death, or how or why I died. You all as always miss "The big picture" soon you will know...

You honour them on how they died... Dieing in a building just doing a everyday job isnt really something to be honoured about..

The police officers and firemen who went in to save the dumbasses who wouldnt come out til it was falling need to be honoured because they could have just not went in at all.

It was their job, and besides their dead, and by Gods will. Will have a resurrection.. .. God does not lie, nor knows how to, Jehovah is the perfection we will never see...

Here is a question.  Do we have a day that "honors" or have someone read off a list of names of all the babies born to either crackheads, or alcholics that die.  No we don't.  Look at how many thousands of people die in the US a year, of other things that was not in there control.  Do we have a day when people read of lists of people killed by drunk drivers.  No, they all have their own family events I am sure.  Is there a day when they read of the names of the Service members that died in the bombing of their barracks.  Nope.  We need to get on with our lives.  I am not saying it wasn't a tragidy.  It was.  But we all need to get on with our lives and leave the past in the past and let the families do what they want to remember their love ones.
