Title: Video Card problems
Post by: Swampfox on February 07, 2008, 06:33:02 AM
I was having problems with my EVGA 7950 GT KO video card so under warranty they replaced it with an EVGA 8800GTS ( takes up 2 slots)and ever since I got that card  I have been having all kinds of problems....In game after about 15 minutes the game freezes and then crashes to desktop...Have to restart computer as the whole thing freezes....Spo ke to them last night and they are sending me a new 8800GT single slot card....When I installed the 8800GTS I did a clean install and my power supply fits the criteria( at least 400 watts) mine is 550 watts..I probably will not be in game until I get the new card installed and running....

wow, you're super damn lucky they sent you an 8800GT in place of a 7950, i mean that's a huge upgrade man. Consider yourself very lucky, my buddy just dropped about 220 $ for one of those badboys. Good luck getting it working man.

When you installed the GTS, are you sure you installed the exact and correct driver version? That could be one of the causes of it freezing.

Also with the higher end cards, you have to make sure you attach a power lead (usually 4-pin) from your PSU to your card.

I did all that...I had to replace the Power supply as this card needs 26 amps on 1 rail 12v....Now all is fine and they are still sending me the 8800 GT 512
