Title: USB Flash Drive Format
Post by: *MAFIA* Beatlejuice on May 11, 2011, 06:22:14 PM
A friend of mine has some files saved on a usb "thumb" drive.  Recently when you insert it, it says "The disk in drive __ is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?"  I know that if we format it, all data will be lost.  I've googled it for a few days now and have tried some random things to recover the data, but none of them work.  Has anyone had this problem before, or do you know a way to fix it?  After another day or two, I'm going to call it quits.

Do you have an Ubuntu CD? If so, boot with the CD and try to access the drive from Ubuntu's menus. Then copy all the data, and then format the drive to FAT32 or NTFS in Windows.
