Title: Tablet vs Netbook/Chromebook
Post by: *MAFIA* Meeester on May 25, 2012, 08:47:17 AM
Just a general discussion.

I'm partial to a Chromebook myself since I already have a desktop, gaming laptop, and Android smartphone; I don't see the need for a tablet with my phone or a netbook when I have a laptop.

Opinions?

Edit: Chromebooks don't support java. what is this bullshit?

I don't have an opinion on Tablet vs. Notebook, but what exactly are they and what is the point of having them vs. a computer or phone?

Tablets cover what a smartphone does, but have a larger screen (7in. or more) with adequate word processing. No external keyboard

Notebooks cover what a desktop does for the most part, but is more portable and a bit weaker.

Netbooks cover what a notebook does but without overpowered GPU/CPU and a smaller screen. Some do not come with a full keyboard.

Chromebooks cover everything that a netbook is intended for but stripped of everything that isnt used for internet. 2gb of ram, 32gb ssd, 11in screen. Nothing else

All 4 are more portable versions of the next step up.  Desktop > Notebook > Netbook > Tablet > Phone

Just my idea.

I get along just fine with my laptop and DroidX. I don't really see the point of having a tablet unless you're just dying to spend money on something stupid. Also, if you have a laptop a netbook is a bit redundant since, as previously stated, it'll do less than your laptop and have a smaller keyboard.

Desktop > Notebook > Netbook > Tablet > Phone

Basically sums it up, especially if each device has Windows 7.
