What do you guys say? It's been a great run, almost 15 years... A few people come to check the forum about once a week or once a month. Maybe it is out of habit, but there's nothing really going on here, hasn't been for a while. Some of us still play games but not nearly as much, and not the same games. We can try to keep it going. Or maybe we can move it to a Facebook page or some other free website. Facebook might be a little too personal. I'm open to suggestions. Balthazar and I are paying for the website and ventrilo, and although it's not too much money, it's a waste if it isn't being used. I'm not quitting or saying goodbye, *MAFIA* will live in my heart forever. I just think it's time to acknowledge the truth and see if we can improve anything.

im down for discord, it works well for it being free.
I also agree with some little free site as an alternative, most here just kind of check sporadically. its cool for history here but not much else going on. Most of us have moved into another stage of life with jobs, families and masebots so its hard now.

I also use Discord, and it's pretty nice for a free software. For myself, I'm pretty busy with school and work, my main game is Counter Or league of legend, I miss bf42.... :/

Hmm 93 days doesn't seem right to me I swear I have been here before that. So yeah I dunno what we should do are there even any common games we all play anymore? I've been playing a lot of PUBG and now trying my hand at Fortnite Battle Royale which is pretty fun. There's the new Battlefront 2 beta which is also pretty good. Has anyone been playing Battlefield 1? As far as the site yeah its pretty dead why not just start a discord channel? We could just communicate in there in the general chat and voice. You can create topic channels and what not. Worth checking out and testing before you pull the trigger on the mafia site. :suicide: I haven't been part of the clan all the long so its really up to y'all but theres my two cents.

I wish Bonehead was here to guide us through this difficult decision. I know he's leading our troops in Afghanistan as a Senior Master Sniper, but he needs to be leading this clan.
Just kidding. I would say it's good idea to shut this down if it's costing unnecessary money. I've been out of the video game scene for several years now due to a busy work schedule. The last Battlefield game I played was BF3. When I did have some free time a couple months ago, I played singleplayer games such as Cities Skylines.
I'm sure many of you are in the same situation with a busy work/life schedule. It's been a good run and I have tons of memories from Mafia over a period of a decade. I think the majority of people have moved on with other things in life and/or are involved in other games which have its own communities. If Beatle and Balth want to keep supplying the funds just so that this website stays alive, I obviously don't mind that. However, I'm sure there are ways we could just archive everything and have it stored somewhere for free, without continuing to use it.
If people do want to keep it alive, I would recommend doing a complete overhaul of the site and bring everything to modern day styles and standards. But this is only worth it if people can decide on a few games and recruit people for the clan. Anyways, just my thoughts. I will try to pop into Ventrilo sometime in November.

I still pop on every now and then to see how much has changed (or hasn't). If you are just looking for a means to stay in touch, why not create a private Facebook group or something of the like? Try to find some of the old geezers and get them to join back or contact through email.
This group lasted way longer than any that I can think of. Congrats!

I personally would hate to see *MAFIA* fade away. I got to know a great many of you and made some awesome memories. Like hoping on to Ventrilo hearing "lama sperm" again blackjax what you do on your own time...... LOL
Any ways, its hard to find clans like this any more out there, I got one or two old members on face book like Missa.

I'd personally love to see the site keep going. I like checking in every now and then and there's a lot of memories here. I don't have the time or desire to be in a full-time hardcore gaming clan, but I do like knowing I'm a part of a group of dudes who've played battlefield from the very beginning. I'd happily contribute a few bucks a month to keep it up. I wouldn't mind a facebook group to keep in closer touch with ya'll and I'd also be in favor of a move to discord over ventrilo if its free and better.
Like most of the rest of you, I've been pretty busy lately with work and side projects. I recently moved to LA and I'm working in the music industry and doing sound design for films.
I do play BF1 whenever I get a chance and I wear the MAFIA tags. I also just bought an oculus rift and it's pretty fucking sick.

Well this seems like the perfect time to login! Hello everyone and Merry Christmas!!! So after reading all the posts and catching myself up I would have to say the nostalgia behind the site and the vent is just too much for me to imagine it just going away. There are a lot of good ideas but as Misfit said if you get me an annual payment estimate I would gladly chip in. Just to catch you all up I am now an NCO (SSgt) in the Air Force for what just hit six years. I'm currently deployed in Jordan and since I am not involved in more than one class at a time do to tempo i have had a bit more time out here to play battlefield 1 and more games overall on certain days of the week.
I have been with this clan since I was 12 years old, and being that I'll be 28 in February that's a pretty darn long time and a lot of memories I would hate to part with. My oh my I still wonder what happened to my first crush *MAFIA* Missa... lol man the days of no worries for sure back then. I remember being told I had to wait until i was almost 14 to even wear our beloved tags!
What ever happened to Swampfox...... Anyway keep me posted!

I check the site every week. Not logged into my *MAFIA* account because I don't know my email to an old as fuck email address.
I remember finding the mafia server. Just stood out to my lil boy eyes. That magical portal to modded bf42. Playing on that server only and talking trash. Then I did horrible mistake by going to the forum and making me look like a idoit 😢. Haha.
I remember buying the hacks from you guys and never being to use them because Norton antivirus kept saying they are a virus.

I can recall getting my first desktop computer and playing BF1942. Logged in and the *MAFIA* server stood out to me. Was blown away by how "good" everyone was when I first connected to the server. Came to realize all the hacking and mods. Couldn't have gone back to playing it normally. Time went on, less players joined the servers and people transitioned to different games. I ended up moving to Xbox360 and Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Halo 3. Played with Maggot and Masebot quite a bit. Between BF1942 with the *MAFIA* crew, and Xbox360 with Maggot and Masebot, those were the best of times I had gaming. Almost got lost from the real world because of how much fun it was.
Came to realize I had to figure out what I wanted to do for college, a career, etc. Had to focus on other responsibiliti es and really cut back on the gaming. Thankfully got to where I am today. Very good memories. I built a new PC two years ago and still play a little here and there. Mostly BF1 now when I can. Seems like a few on here play it as well.

For the first time It was for a DC combat clan in 2001 when I was at college. I was studying media and writing a generic paper about the Columbine Massacre. My sexy tutor from New York at 9/11 disappeared all of a sudden. Everyone in my class got passes for just turning up and no-one asked any questions. So I had allot of time on my hands. I remember her being very provocative with leather knee high boots, red lip-stick and she made me feel like a child. To this day I do not know if shes alive or dead.

I'm willing to keep it going as long as there is some level of participation here. It's not cheap but not too crazy expensive either and this place has meant alot to me over the years. I have fallen off the planet since surviving cancer, getting married, and buying a house... All good things that have otherwise diverted my attention. But that doesn't diminish the good times we had here.
I'm all for voting and putting the vote up for expiration for 30 days.
Options:
1. Keep *MAFIA* the way it is (forums and ventrilo)
2. Change *MAFIA* to a different forum with a more updated look and feel
3. Drop the Forums and/or Ventrilo and cancel the hosting

Definitely not 3. I'm fine with 1, although it's quickly fading. Maybe with Battlefield 5 coming out next month a new look would help get some new members... Or if anyone wants to start a Fortnite branch or whatever, have at it.

This new forum still has a few kinks in it... I can set up the discord link at some point, but until then just make a thread with it somewhere and sticky it. It doesn't matter to me what VOIP we use, they are all free and easy...ventril o, discord, teamspeak, whatever else. I pay yearly for vent, so whenever it expires I don't mind switching over. I'm down for whatever at this point.
