Suffocation isnt that bad, because you will faint first. Drowning is different because your awake when your lungs fill with water.

well, i can tell you this, i would MUCH rather fall from a skyscraper to my death that drowned. Drowning would be the most horrific thing i can imagin.

If I had to pick an option in this poll, I would NOT want to die by burning.
I think most of us would choose to die in our sleep. But next to that, I would most want to die, by the options in this poll, by drowning. I first heard this when I was in 10th grade, and you can do some more research on it if you wish: After the initial struggling and panicking, gasping for air and choking and whatnot, you eventually give up. And its at THAT moment, AFTER the terror, that you feel this incredible, wonderful feeling of peace.
I know it sounds strange and unbelievble, but don't just laugh and say thats impossible. There have been studies and documents of near death experiences of people who have almost drowned, or who actually have drowned and were resuscitated. I have provided some websites for those of you who would like to look into this further.

true true, I remember from when I was 4, my dad was all messed up, and he held my head under water while I was taking a bath and I passed the fuck out. I somehow remember it perfectly, and I was freaking the fuck out and splashing everywhere and there was this intense pain... then all of a sudden... nothing... it was like my first orgasm, haha. So it lasted about 10 seconds, of this just slow perfect approach to sleep... then blackout... yeah, then my dad realized he fucked up, pulled me up, and slammed me up against a wall and I coughed up the water, hahahah.

Well I may be wrong but the only way to die is a lack of O2 to the brain. While Drowning and Suffocation are very similar I think bleeding to death has to fall into this catagory. The cause that leads to death is all the same. The worst part is the point just prior to passing out that sucks the most. Passing out from blood loss is probably the most painless. Drowning you have to go through the injestion of water wich I believe is the worst part. Suffocation I think is very similar. While falling from a great distance you have to deal with the anticipation of impact that is the worst. Burning is interesting. While I have never had the experience of watching this happen I know several that I have worked with have seen it happen. That is sheer pain. I must say that I think dying in your sleep is basically suffocation. All in all I am not looking forward to it. After you pick up a family of 5 in the middle of the road the thought of this kinda question kinda comes to life. Hopefully no one here experiences too much of this in there life. I hope that when I die its in a major auto accident and I never see it coming!

Ha, all over the place? OK you guys caught me. I also posted those websites on drowning in both the [DOA] forums and the 3v0lution forums. I didn't know that those 2 forums + *MAFIA* = all over the place. And I'm sorry for being sarcastic, I'm just having some fun.
Forgive me for trying to get some people on forums to THINK, try to use their brain to learn something, instead of the normal forum chat of "I own you," or "STFU!" Anyway, I know I exaggerated by saying I'd want to drown, obviously I wouldn't, but it was just a small joke.
Its still an interesting topic. I'm glad people like ICEMAN and Lighting (rep for you two) responded back in somewhat of an intellectual way. I bet some people here clicked that first link and saw all those big terms (words) and didn't read more than 2 sentences.

haha, well yeah, I read them all. I thought it was damn interesting! Things that are unknown have, and always will interest me. Death, is one of those things that none of us understand yet, despite what we think we know. In this same realm is religion, and the "afterlife." Is there one? Is there one guy, or multiple guys who control it? Can the mind function w/o a body on different frequencies in the universe? Is that what causes ghosts? All that stuff interests the hell out of me because we're absolutely clueless. Despite how much we know, that the earth travels at about 19,500 miles a second away from the center of the universe... string theory... every known species and how it's nervous system works... can all be physically studied and observed, and most of it we've already discovered... the mind is what will be a mystery for many years to come, and I wish to be a part of it's discoveries.

You see, when your body knows yoru about to die or feels extreme pain or discomfort it starts to release a certain chemical, well, theoritcally but i beleive that this is why people go calm before dying, err anyways i picked fire dude, shit that would hurt man.

Falling for me is a nightmare.
I used to be a good climber till I got the fear of heights at a slate quarry near Skipton its not too high about 300ft. My buddy led a route up the face placing gear in the wall as he went, and when he got to the top absailed back down from the top gear so he could belay me while I climbed up. I had to basically climb up and retrieve the gear behind me as I went, with him belaying me from the bottom of the face through the top gear(then you just loop a rope round a tree to absail down or walk around). I got 50ft from the top of the way up about 250ft after removing the gear behind me and was having trouble removing one of those spring loaded wedges(friends) that you stick in awkward cracks, so he took me in tight so I could hang on the rope to get this friend out. But this is slate stone that flakes very easily and just before I pulled the friend out the rock the gear that I was hanging on above me all ripped out. So I fall off the face hanging off my harness 50ft bellow where I was originally now about 200ft hanging off the very thing I was trying pull out. It was at a slight overhang so I didnt slam the face too hard but I got cut to shit flying back in and busted my balls for a while from my harness. It was a miracle that little friend didn't rip out the face after I loostened it. I got belayed down off that one friend 200ft and not wanting to push luck left it there, pulled the rope through and I've never climbed there again.

They say drowning doesn't hurt at all. Falling from a high distance would kill you instantly. Burning would kill you slowly similiar to bleeding. Burning would eventually destroy the nerves so you wouldn't feel much pain. Bleeding would continue to hurt until you died. Just my thoughts that I come up with at 6 am.

The part of bleeding doesn't hurt, it is what made you bleed in the 1st place that is what gives you the pain. But after the cut, that pain is somewhat gone... Nerve endings are destroyed at the cut site and have to repair themselves.
Bleeding out would be the easiest way of death, you would just go to sleep because your brain would not be getting the O2 (somewhat of a Brain Stroke with out the block of a Artery) needed to stay active.
Ever give a pint of blood and feel dizzy or maybe even faint? Well same thing, you faint, but just wont wake up when bleeding out.
Lack of blood would be the easiest way to die.
But I think you all are forgetting one major thing about the "pain"... Everyone talks about the "Hurt" that death of one way or the other could give. Isn't the feeling of pain nothing but remembering that pain? Well, who knows if you would ever remember the pain you "had" at the time of death.
Dieing happens, it happens to everyone and is part of our life cycle, I do believe we all (all living things) have a natural defense programmed into us to deal with that time of death when the time comes. OUR biggest problem of death, is the unknown, what happens, is it all over, do we go somewhere else, are we born again, do we see our Maker and so on.
Live your life the best you can, follow the rules of life that are giving (by who ever you believe has given them) and enjoy your time on this Earth the best you can. You WILL die, we all do and when that time comes only then will YOU know how it feels and what happens after. Life is just to short to worry about death it will come sooner or later and only then will YOU know what happens after.
I have more on this subject, but I think I have given my part for now.
EDIT... Let me add, you will have to take my word on this or maybe the older people will post. The older you get the easier it is to except the Death of yourself. I can remember being a teenager/in my 20s fearing Death (how many of you can think before 10 years old of fearing death? Didn't happen for me, maybe again part of the life cycle), but the older I get the the easier it is to except that one day it will happen. Don't get me wrong, I do not want to Die, but for some reason the older I get my curiosity of "what is next" takes over for the fear of dieing... Maybe part of the life process of death itself? Who knows.

Dying in a fire would only hurt for a few seconds, your nerves would be singed and then no pain anymore. You would probably go into shock around that time though.
