Title: Steam Connectivity
Post by: Pr0d1gY on June 11, 2007, 05:56:24 PM
Okay, so I just downloaded steam again, and bought CS and DoD Source... Along with retrieving my old account of some classic CS and DoD 1.6. But I have a problem... I am connected through a cheap ass D-Link DI-524 Router. The computer in my room, and the router in the room next to me. A hardwire from the router to my computer is what keeps me alive. So yeah, Steam cannot connect to the master server list or join games anymore. Steam says the problem has to do with my router blocking like a billion ports, and I can't forward them because the exact model of router I have, won't allow the amount to be forwarded. So theres no hope to ever play again through a my router. My question is... Since the router is useless and needs ports and shit, would connecting the ethernet cable (If extended) from the modem directly to my computer work, and if thats all is required to still connect to the net? Someone let me know what's up... Thanx.
