This is my car, its pretty nice, and it fits my upright bass in the back, which is all I need it for.  The only problem with it is when it randomly decides to shift in and out of 4 wheel drive on the freeway...oh and the rear passenger side window doesn't work.

Help / Fucking HP
« on: September 22, 2012, 07:20:58 PM »
So i'm wondering if I have a lawsuit here.  I sent in my laptop because HP offered to fix my defective battery/broken screen hinge for free. They have a form to fill out so that they transfer your files "in the event that windows needs to be reloaded".  I filled out the form to have them do so, but wrote on it not to reload windows because all that was wrong with it was the battery and hinge.  I got the laptop back with my receipt, and all my files were gone.  I called them up and they initially said they just reloaded windows, then I called another guy and they said they replaced it, and called another guy and he said they scrapped my hard drive.  My receipt didn't show they even touched the hard drive.

So they fucked me over with that, losing thousands of family photos, tons of important documents, all my schoolwork, all my music i've written, all my games, and a shitload of music on Itunes.  No I didn't have it backed up, because I don't have money for an external hard drive, and I didn't think they'd be braindead enough to erase ALL my data.  I didn't even think they'd bother turning it on, since none of it was software related. And if that's not bad enough, my battery is worse than when I sent it in.  Now I gat alerts saying my battery is defective, and my laptop randomly shuts off. They didn't even replace it, they said they'd ship me a new one with the laptop.  When I got the laptop, there was no battery to be found, and its been two weeks now.

Any advice?

You NEED a mouse for this. Zombies move so erratically with how they attack/chase that even a laptop trackpad is insufficient.
This.  Playing with headphones is highly recommended too.  I'm about to get on and play right now.

If you don't have a big backpack, gun, or canteen, then you're better off dieing lol. All of that can be found in a supermarket (though only a pistol for a gun.)
I've got an Alice pack, a gillie suit, a 12-guage, a 1911, a canteen, map, binocs, matches, hatchet, the whole deal.  I'd rather not die haha. The only thing I don't currently have that I need is a hunting knife, and some food. And blood.

So I got this game, but whenever I try and play DayZ online, it lags a ton.  I don't get it.  Single player runs just fine, on high settings and everything, but when I go online to play DayZ I lag all of a sudden, no matter what I set my graphics to.  My internet connection should be fine, i'm getting a good signal and speedtest.net shows 27mb/s  connection speeds but I'm still lagging. Anybody have any ideas why?

Help / Re: Tips on speeding up a computer.

What he said is incorrect. With today's RAM, you need to tap it into place with a hammer or any other object because the clips won't click properly if you don't apply enough force. If the RAM is seated only partially, your computer will be much slower than if it were utilizing the full chip.
Well that's what I practically ended up doing and it worked haha. Speaking of RAM, I know you guys said 4 gigs minimum but 2.5 is doing just fine for me right now.  That dayZ game looks pretty fun, I think once I'm done taking all my placement tests for college then I'll have to buy Arma2 so I can play it. My Internet connection in my room is pretty crappy though, so I might look into getting a wifi repeater. Anybody have any experience with using one of those?

RAM gets "tilted" into place not pushed straight down. You got lucky if you pushed straight down, most times the holder will crack.
Thanks, i'll remember that for next time haha. Wish I had known that before though.

My computer might actually be able to run this haha, it meets the minimum requirements.

I'm downloading the free version right now to see for sure.

Ok so for about a hundred and ten bucks, I took a computer that used to take twenty minutes just to boot up and made it run faster than my laptop.  I installed the new power supply with no problems, and the graphics card went in fine too. The only pain was getting the RAM cards into their slots. I really had to shove them in. But now It runs everything i've thrown at it perfectly, and I get way better FPS than my laptop.  I'll install battlefield on it now, and play 1942 if anybody ever gets on. Maybe i'll get battlefield 2 too, and see how it runs...so ya, Suck it roshan.

Oh and if you still think I wasted my money,  I know a lot more about computers now then when I started, and made sixty bucks helping one friend get rid of a virus, and another with upgrading his.
