Pull all cards, unhook all drives. Power on pc > see if it stays on > if not > pull ram 1 stick at a time > if only 1 stick ram may be bad > if it stays on > replace 1 drive at a time > boot and repeat till it fails to boot > if boot fails on a drive replace it > if all drives ok > replace 1 card at a time > boot with each new card > if fails make sure cards are not using the same dma, irq > if fail and cards are not conflicting > replace card > if boot with all in > ok > if fail > check motherboard wires > leads must be plugged in the right way > check power button for short or sticking > check reset for same.

If you still cant get it to run. I can call you and walk you through it.

I spoke with him on vent today and the comp will not even POST.  So i had him remove all unnecessary components and it still did the same thing.  I pulled up the specs from his mobo manufacturer and the cpu that they gave him isnt on the compatability chart so I told him to get one that is.  Its Intel and im not real farmiliar with them so maybe you can help more.  I was thinking that it is either a compatability issue or something pluged in wrong.

I ran into the same problem, i toke my computer to compusa and they checked it out, if you didnt get the parts from there you have to pay for them to figure it out.  With my problem i plugged the wrong cord from the power supply into the wrong place on the motherboard not knowing that there was a identical one that was a different colour.

IF you dont get it checked out by a professional, then i can only think of replaceing the motherboard.

If its a new motherboard, given it has the latest chipset and drivers. As long as the cpu is the same pinset as the zif socket, it should work.

My post was on his this statement: when i try to boot up, my fans and led lights come on for about 1 sec.

Sounds to me like a protection fault, that is wht he should pull everything except cpu, memory.

And add 1 thing back at a time, given the system will post and stay on with only cpu, memory.

If not then he either has a bad switch, mobo, cpu, memory. The psu is good based on his statement: when i try to boot up, my fans and led lights come on for about 1 sec. Else it would do nothing...

Sounds to me he needs to set is jumpers correctly... I bet he has a "wake up" jumper set to on and nothing to wake up the computer.

The MB only has one jumper on it and its to clear the Cmos.  I dont know that that would cause this problem..
