  My processor fan is out ..... could be that ??

If the fan doesn't work, the CPU overheats. When it overheats, it turns off by itself.

Make sure dust or hair is not in any of the fans. Use one of those compressed air dusters to blow out the air, but be careful to blow the dust OUT, and not back into the system.

If you don't have any high end components or don't plan on getting any soon, then I'd just stick with the 350 W power supply you have. If you buy that motherboard, check all the specifications and make sure that it gets what it needs.

Yes, repair the CPU fan 1st. If you can start the computer and it works fine for 5min (like you said above), then so far you are lucky and the CPU hasn't been damaged. But I would stop using it until the fan is repaired. Just get something that works, no need for some big thing that can cool the Sun.


Try a PSU if you wish, but if you have been running ok with the watts you are using I wouldn't worry about that right now (that is if you haven't added anything to take more watts).

Just put my Norton on it ( 84 days left ) and changed it over 2 Microsoft !!!
And it has XP home on it ......... now i go download my speakers .
