Modify Vehicle Damage
« on: April 09, 2005, 09:45:37 AM »

I remember when I last played on *MAFIA*, you had these super fast planes that wouldn't take any damage from hitting the ground/houses/pants. I'm modding El Alamein on the DOA server and I am trying to do the same with the Desert Patrol Vehicle.

So, I'm wondering. What is it that does this? I tried speedMod like some forums suggested...it doesn't work very well.

objectTemplate .hasCollisionP hysics?
ObjectTemplate .speedMod?
ObjectTemplate .material?

You should PM Bone with this, I think you would have a better chance of him helping you... BUT I am not sure that he will, I am sure you could understand.

That's funny coming from a 14 year-old AOL user.
Stay out of grown-up business and go play with your legos.

Yer talkin about damage when the planes hit inanimate objects or other vehicles? Thats two different things.

For inanimate objects, its pretty easy:

You have to go in and modify the flaps and the wings one by one. Theres usually only like 5 or so on the planes. On land vehicles you modify the springs. I forget the exact name of it but its something about pitch and lift.

For other vehicles its a bit longer:
Bear with me because its kinda complicated. If you look in the geometries.con of the vehicle you wish to modify you will see a bunch of standardmeshes . Now you have to look in the geometries.con of the vehicles you want it to cause no damage to when they hit. Active the mesh of the vehicle you dont want damaged and set it so the lods are all low numbers (like 1-3 depending) and addtemplate those other vehicle's meshes to it.

What exactly needs to be modified? There are quite a few settings for the springs/flaps...not quite easy to guess.

Turn off collision physics on the springs (not the wheels) and set automatic reset off.

Okay, thank you for sharing that in a thread that it in no way pertains to.
