Trying too hard? I only speak 3 languages fluently. English, Norwegian and Swedish. My spanish and german is horrible.

Mandarin? That is pretty impressive! And Im not trying to rack down on americans, Im simply saying that its hard for americans to learn other languages because it isnt very similar to other languages.

Not really. Knowing Chinese or German (or both) makes it fuck all easy(ier) to get a job, but that's only if you're willing to take positions halfway across the world.

My older sister recently went from New York to Brazil and now Belgium for her job as a recruiter. She can't even speak Spanish.
