Well not being from Israel, Palestine or Jewish it isn't my place to take a stand and it would seem presumtuous and egotistical for my nation to intervene after all we're not crusaders any more, in Star Trek they call this interfering with the prime directive.
However I have scattered opinions on the subject. The length of conflict between Israel and Palestine is epic and will never seemingly be resolved without intervention, in-fact it seems in a state of perpectual infinity.
The question of who's righteous has no meaning any-more. This conflict is no longer about a legitimate argument over land rights(if it ever really was), that faded into obscurity decades ago. The two sides are in a state of flux to retaliate over every attack to keep face. There's no real purpose or foresight for the men and women who fight on both sides its just defence and pure hatred that's ingrained into them from an early age. The Israelis are forced into national service at the age of 18 for 3 years and brainwashed to hate Palestinians who are similary brainwashed as children to become martyrs. The saddening thing is there's nothing that really separates these people as human beings apart from their religion.
The only peaceful outcome will be when somehow these 2 nations integrate which is easier said than done because they are stubborn and set in their ways like a computer program. If you've ever seen the film War games you'll remember the computer eventually learns to question its programming and realises the conflict its involved in is futile. This can be comparable to the way Yasser Arafats bodyguards turned against him in the end.
Occupying a nation by force only seems to breed hostility like the insurgents in Iraq, the IRA in Ireland and the Taliban in Afganistan. If Israel really wants peace it needs to cast aside all previous notions of hostility, declare Palistine a nation in its own right, encourage Palestine to take an interest in governing and policing itself and help them not fight them.
