19" 20" bigscreen/widescreen?

Ok, I'm going to buy myself a nice present: a LCD screen :).
But I don't know what I should get. Its gonna cost me arround 300 euro's (388.089 USD). I got a few optionse:
1 Samsung BF940 19" 2ms (ms, milliseconds, is reaction time black-white-black, well in this case the less the better, above 8 you get ghosting, below that you won't get it)
2 Some 20" 5/6 ms 'big'screen
3 A 19" widescreen
4 A 20" widescreen

I don't know if I should get a widescreen or a normal one. Why? well quite simple, I never had a widescreen! So I'm thinking that maby the widescreen fucks the whole thing up (you know, stratching faces so that they fit in the screen).
So is this the case with a widescreen? Anyone got one? Can anyone tell me what its like to have one.

Other thing: I want to know whether it is smarter to get a 19" with 2ms, or a 20" with 5-6 ms. I know that below 8 ms you got no 'ghosting'. And I really don't want any ghosting. But I don't know if a bigger screen needs like less ms to avoid ghosting.

Any idea's ??

I would go with a 19" they are big enough. Mine is the viewsonic vx924 2ms black to white and 1ms gray to gray. I love it games look so damn awesome on it.

4:3 "normal" is most likely your best bet. A wide screen is good for dvd and some games. In order to get the full best look and benefit on a wide screen. You have to run it at a crazy resolution and sometimes it will conflict with games or some software.

And can make text hard to read, but on movies you cant beat a wide screen.

And yes I own both, my laptop has the 15.4 wide screen.

I've got mine running on a 15" samsung LCD, A 15" crt for remote desktop usage on my network, and a 20" Flat Screen TV so I can watch my movies and play some games on my TV. I'm happy with it.

The 19" widescreen should fit well with your system. To run games at crazy resolutions settings you will have to edit the .con files for the specific game but there are resources all over the place (i.e. Google) to inform you on how to do it.

I just saw a Viewsonic 2025 20 inch widescreen...5 ms amazing, no ghosting...I am going to get the 22 inch version as my eyes are old and for shit but the widescreen Viewsonic is the best I have seen so far...I have seen the one Bone is speaking about as well and the 2ms kick the crap out of everything else.....Not widescreen though...

ya the problem is I am going to watch movies on it, but I prefer a good game screen. I thought that you could get a wider vision with a widescreen. But I don't know lol.. keep making replys please, and thanks for the onces so far :)

Just remember it takes a lot of horsepower to run at the really high refresh rates in games to keep them looking good and not stretched out.

Remember wide screens where really meant for images and video. If you have the graphics power to push the high refresh rates needed then go for it. Otherwise get the reg just to be safe.

Ah ok, well I'm probebly gonna get a 7900GTO or GTX too lol. But I first have to have the money for it. good tip tho, thanks :)
