Cooling
« on: January 06, 2007, 12:24:59 AM »

So just wanted to ask something.  Does anyone have any sort of liquid cooling for your PC? If you do or know some, which ones would you recommend and from what company?

For the future, I'm thinking of this one: http://www.sharkacomputers.com/zare2fawasy.html

I don't know about you guys, but for me, temps hit to about 60 C.

Isn't that high or is it considered normal for when running games?

Ati or nVidia card?  Some comps have it in the BIOS. If you have nVidia, you can download a program called CoolBits, which lets you customize your video settings + overclocking your card + temperature.

Here: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=815 (don't let ur drivers be too much out of date.)

I'm not really sure for Ati. Just search for it. "Temp Checker" or something.

sorry can't help you here, all i can say is ask kingpin...and incase you were wondering.

my cpu temp runs about 40-45 Celsius, sometimes it gets up to 50 on hot days.

my gpu temp runs about 55-60 Celsius, never higher than 60.

It only downloads a .reg file, so my question is, what to do now? Go into the BIOS?

yeah ati has the catalyst program, comes with temp display, overclocking features, and much more. it comes with the video cards...but yeah if you are gonna be overclocking your comp a lot, then maybe, but if not just get some good old thermaltake fans, that should keep it cool

Pffft I use air cooling and never get above 50c on anything. Artic cooler on my ati x850xtpe and a damn radiator with 120mm fan.

If your not doing major overclocking you can get by with a good cooler.  The only time you should need watercooling is for voltage increasses on your CPU to overclock!  It would be better to know what type of items you are using to give you better ideas on temps.  My current temps (AMD) are case 32C and CPU 61C.  Also there is usually a big difference between internal CPU core temp and temp at the heatsink.  Here is an article for AMD temps.

Intel is completely different and don't run nearly as hot as AMD.
