My friend has a laptop computer, Toshiba Satellite A15, and needs a new fan for it.  The fan makes a lot of noise, is wicked slow, and sometimes turns off the computer.  I've googled it, but there are hundreds of results.  When I look through them, its hard to determine which fans will fit that computer, and I'm not really good at hardware stuff.  Can someone please post some links directly to fans that will be compatible for that specific laptop?  Thanks.

I think he could use something like this. http://www.pcabusers.com/reviews/antec/notebookcooler/p1.htm

I'm not sure how you would replace the fan inside the laptop, but this provides another solution to cooling. Just place it under the laptop, and it significantly gets a bit cooler. There are many of these out there, I just gave you an example. I will search for some in a couple minutes. Hope this gets you the general idea.

Well we already have one of those things that the laptop sits on, but the fan inside barely runs anymore.  I've already taken it out and cleaned it and stuff, it should be an easy thing to replace, I just need help finding a compatible fan, one that'll fit in there.  Will I have to go to Toshiba for a replacement, or are these things universal?  Thanks for the help though, +rep.

Ok I found a DIY website for Laptops. DIY Guide For Toshibas

I know it doesn't exactly show you the fan stuff, but if your friend has experience with hardware, this could help.

Main Page   All Toshiba Laptops Links

Fan Disassembly

Ask him if he still has the manual that came with the laptop. I'm positive that would have the specifications for it.

WIthout seeing it its hard to tell you what you need.  I have seen single and duel fans.  I would take it out and go to radio shack first.  if its like a 10mm or 20mm fan you should be able to find one and replace the connector to make it work.  If not here is a link for a place that sells Toshiba replacement parts.
