what kind of a router is it? model?  cuz sometimes if you install some stuff from a cd or their website, it might get it working.  i have never done this, but i know they give cd's with the router usually.

it said on the box that it's a "plug and play" model that doesn't need software. It works fine for my computer, but it doesn't establish a connection with the dell for some reason. It's a d-link router.

after u find out ur model number try going to downloads page and they have this app i think that takes care of everything

FUCK! I found the model i have (DES-1105), the chump at OfficeMax told me

"this is all you need if you have two computers, a DSL box, and you want both to be able to connect at the same time to the interwebs"

So i buy it, and after all this long ass trouble shooting crap, i get this message on their tech support site (this is referring to my model of "router")

Question: Why canĀ“t I share my Internet connection to multiple computers when using my D-Link switch or hub?

Answer: If you are connecting directly to a Cable or DSL modem, you will need a router to share your Internet connection or a computer using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) or Proxy. Switches and hubs do not allow you to share a single IP address to multiple computers.


The fucker sold me a HUB? WTF is that?! I said router, he handed me this piece of shit, and now i can't get internet on both computers. What a fucking rip. Good thing i kept the receipt, and i remembered the asshole's name too, that shit head "Eli"

In my defense, the picture on the back contradicts what it really does. It shows a little tree diagram that goes like this....

What they fail to mention is, that D-link router isn't what you're buying, it's actually a home network hub that's in the box. Oh well, at least EVERYTHING ELSE works fine, like the dell and my computer. Thanks a lot bone and especially loaded and all others who chipped in, even if i did have the right router i doubt the dell would be working right now if it weren't for you fools.
