I was going out to buy one at a gamestop or something.  I like to hold it to feel what is comfortable for me.

If you do buy XP Professional, it only supports 3GB of RAM, so no need for the 4GB.
As for the hard drive, 500 gigs should be good, 1 TB is fucking huge, i mean you could archive all the midget porn you could find on the internet, and then some on that thing.

As for the physics card, it's not really necessary since hardly any games utilize it, but it's your call, good be a good investment for the future. That graphics card is slightly outdated, but still a good card.

If i were you, i would go to cyberpowerpc.c om and build a custom computer from them. It's what i did, and i built an ubar computer for 900 bucks, dell will charge you up the poopshoot have no doubt about that.

http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/AMD_SLI_READY_Custom_Build_Configurator/

go to that link, and built/add/customize it to your liking, and see what your total comes to. Just make sure to shop around. Good thing about cyberpower, they assemble it all for you, so it's very noob friendly. Happy hunting.

Ummm.... you can have your 4GB of RAM.  XP Pro does use this (2GB for OS, 2GB for APPS).  Some computers can hold up to 8GB of RAM, but XP will only use 4GB.  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555223

Do you really need 3 hard-drives?

I think you should try and build the PC yourself.... although I would agree with you on DELL because of the warranty and customer service that they offer.  I've had nothing but problems with my PC and always have no problem getting it replaced.

looks good, but what's the price tag? I'll point out once more that the physics card probably isn't necessary, but your call. They are pretty pricey...

This is what I would get:
INTEL Core 2 Quade Q6600 processor 2.4gb
nVidia 9800GX2 1gb memory (Two 9800's in one slot, so if you do sli it's like having 4 9800's.)
Hard drives are good,
Try to get somthing better than 800, if possible do 1022, and make it gaming ram, not alot out there for DDR2 though.
and get a DG965 series motherboard, or DQ965 series, they're really reliable (Which is what I have now along with the core 2 quad.

That's my suggestion.
