The British really never ordered India about, they just stopped people killing each other. Whats changed? India still has a medievil caste system but now remains on constant alert from agression from Pakistan.
Are you serious? Britain controlled the area where Indian and Pakistan is now. Heard of the British East India Trading Company? They had a monopoly over all the trade in the region. They made English the official language and they restricted some Hindu customs. They never stopped killings, they actually made them happen. Indians were treated as slaves and were killed if they did anything wrong. They slaughtered many people who rebelled against their policies.
Britain did some good in agriculture and the industry, but they also forced Indians to pay heavy taxes. It was the British who forced the Muslims to rebel against Indians so that they could get their own country. England thought that the Muslims would help them fight the uprisings in India, but it just ended up with what we have today.
Did you know that many palaces and buildings in India used to have gold decorations in the wall? The Taj Mahal had a lot of this but when the British came to India, they stripped all the buildings of the gold and other precious items and took them back to England.
There still is a caste system, but it's not like the one they had a long time ago.
