It takes so freckon long to load the maps, even when no one is on a map, it usually takes about 5 minutes to load a map, can anyone tell me how to make it faster.
 Im maxed on ram so i dont know why its slow

How much ram do you have? I have 1g of OLD sdram and I load up on most maps 30 to 45 sec. I am 99% sure ram is what you need to load maps.

You just have an old computer upgrade the cpu and ram if you mobo is maxed get a new one that is all I can tell ya.

But, I got a hp computer, with 700 something ram.  I dont think it is the ram, is there anything else that could cause it?

Hard drive speed maybe... If you are running an old 5400rpm drive that could be a problem. After what Bone said what is the speed of your CPU?

Like I said I can get maps loaded in 45 sec... Here are some of my specs to compare to yours.

(it's old and slow)

1g of ram
WD hard drive 120g (7,200rpm) main drive out of 3 that I have
ATI 9600pro v-card (has nothing to do with load time as far as I know)

What do you have running when you are playing the game?

I dont know all these computer words, if the computer didnt cut on, when i pressed the button, I would just get a new computer.

Ok with what you said above... Unplug your computer and hit the power switch... Oh NO it didn't turn on, time for a new computer.

If you plan on playing BF2 you better get a new one. I know I am going to have a BIG problem with BF2 with my box, shit I am sure the net code is so fucked up that I wont be able to play it on line with a 56k.

BF2... $50
New computer  (home made) $2000 (more or less)
Cable internet... $5000 (to give to the cable compnay for box I need to have cable)

So just for me to play BF2 I have to come up with around $7000. Ya for me.

45 seconds? Something is wrong there. I load most my maps in 10-15 seconds, 20 max. You running XP? Try turning off some useless XP bullshit to save some ram and maybe your game will load faster too.

Map load has nothing to do with your connection.  When it comes to turning stuff off, I am ok with the load times I have. What matters is what is in the box, my specs are above, I would bet you have me beat 2x in CPU and Ram speed.

Well load times usually have a lot more to do with RAM and all I have is a gig of PC2700 so i doubt its much faster than yours.

So then we agree... He needs ram to make is map load times faster. There you KrautKiller you need more ram. If you don't understand computer stuff just take the computer to a shop and have them install more ram. It wont cost that much, it matters what you want, but I would think $200 or less will get you loaded up at 30 sec or less.

Sound, what sound? I have been typing... BUT yes I do believe I am right and you need more ram. Just try to get to a total of 1g then go higher if you think you need more.

Yeah get more/faster memory and you will load faster for sure.
